For the moment, this is a French language site only. For the benefit of those who would feel happier with a few words of explanation in English, welcome!

The Chaumiere a Musique is France’s leading specialist in quality used classical CDs. Open 7 days a week, we have approximately 15 000 different references in stock at any one time, almost all of which are available on this site.

Many of our references have long since been deleted from current catalogues and are impossible to find outside the used CD outlets. But we also stock many recent items too. Obviously, the french catalogue is quite well represented on our shelves.

We are very careful about the quality of our stock and each disc is carefully checked before being put on sale. Problems are extremely rare and all items are fully guaranteed against defects making them unsuitable for normal use. Most items are as new, some may show a few small signs of wear with respect to the booklets or cardboard box, but the discs themselves are always in excellent condition. We replace spoiled or damaged jewel cases with new ones and all items are cellophaned before sale.

Prices are on average about one half the cost of a new CD in France, and all items are carefully quality-controlled and garanteed to be in perfect working order.

Our stock is updated in real time, so a disc which has just come in will be on the site within seconds. Fresh stock is coming in every day, so if you don’t find what you are looking for this time it is well worth coming back at a later date. Over a one-year period, something like 50 000 different references come into stock.

The website stock is the same as in the shop : you may therefore occasionally discover someone in the shop has picked up your disc and bought it while you were surfing on the site. You will receive an e-mail confirming your order with the list of items shipped and will not of course be debited for any unavailable items. All web orders are processed promptly and are final.

Payments are completely secure : we will never have knowledge of your credit card details. All transactions are made via SSL encryption (Secure Socket Layer) software directly on our bank’s computer.

Registration : to make a purchase on the site and use some of our more advanced facilities, you must first register on our site (“vous inscrire” button). Once your registration has been successfully completed, you will receive an e-mail of confirmation.

Shopping basket (“Panier”) : you can add or remove items throughout the duration of your visit, but the contents of the shopping basket will be lost if you leave the site without completing your transaction. If your prefer to purchase later, we advise you transfer the contents of the shopping basket to the wishlist before leaving.

Wishlist The wishlist basket is for items which might interest you but which you do not wish to purchase straight away. Be aware however that certain wishlist items may no longer be available when you next visit us, because the majority of our references are one-only and may have been sold in the meantime.

Alerts : this feature is for discs currently out of stock. If you are looking for a recording and we don’t have it now, you can place the disc in the alert basket and will automatically receive an e-mail notification the next time the disc comes in. Then, all you have to do is transfer the disc to the shopping basket and make the purchase and it’s yours ! But act quickly, you may well not be the only person looking for that disc !

Search engine : there are 3 ways of looking for discs on our site :

	•	Quick search (“Recherche rapide”) :	enter keyword(s) limited to composer, artist, work and/or disc title. Use a space to separate each keyword
	•	Advanced search (“Recherche avancée”) :	this is a much more powerful way of searching for specific discs. Please bear in mind that the following fields are in auto-completion mode : label, composer, artist, so if you type in any chain of characters you will get the list of corresponding entries in our database. You can also search by period, style, support (CD, DVD, SACD…) or price. If you want to include discs not currently in stock, please untick the “Uniquement en stock” box.
	•	Department :	use the yellow strip on the upper part of each page to search by department.

The results of your search can be sorted by title, label, support or price

Shipping : : We ship all over the world. Shipping charges depend on the number of items purchased (see “Acheter / Frais de port” and “Délais de livraison” for delivery times and prices). You are responsible for any customs duties due at destination. We ship all orders via the French Postal Service. We do not offer Fedex, DHL or UPS consignments but at present we feel the the cost of such services is completely out of proportion with the value of the items shipped.
